A 62-second brand film, in Malay

A 62-second film that follows a shopkeeper from not knowing his own numbers to running the shop on them. It is the film on this site's home page.

What was done

Eight shots written as one story, generated as live action against character reference plates so the same two actors recur from shot to shot, voiced in Malay, and cut against VO timing that was MEASURED rather than estimated.

The cut follows the voice, not the other way round. Every line goes through an endpoint that returns a timestamp per word, so a shot changes when the sentence actually ends. That is why nobody in this film talks into a cut.

One hundred and eleven Malay words, 52.45 measured seconds of speech, and 62 seconds of film - so nine of those seconds are deliberate silence.
